About 3B Cold Laser Therapy

What is 3B Cold Laser
Therapy?

3B Cold Laser Therapy, also known as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation, is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that uses low-intensity laser light to stimulate healing in tissues. Unlike surgical lasers, 3B cold lasers do not produce heat, making them safe and comfortable for therapeutic use.

The 3B Cold Laser emits specific wavelengths of light (typically in the 650 nanometres to 808 nanometres range) that penetrate the skin and reach targeted tissues. This light energy is absorbed by the mitochondria in cells, boosting cellular energy (ATP production) and enhancing the body’s natural healing processes. Different strengths and pulsing frequencies of the laser target different types of cellular response, meaning you can tailor treatment for many different conditions.

How it works

Why is it used as a complemtary treatment?

Using light for healing is not new. The wavelengths of light used in 3B laser, is scientifically proven to help with many different types of healing. Whether its reducing inflammation or swelling, encouraging the production of collegen, increasing blood flow to an area, or decreasing nerve sensitivity that’s needed, cold laser can help. It also promotes the release of natural pain-killing chemicals in the body, such as endorphins and enkephalins, making it helpful for pain management too/

  • Accelerated healing of soft tissue injuries and wounds

  • Reduced inflammation and swelling

  • Pain relief without medication

  • Improved joint mobility and flexibility

  • Non-invasive and safe for regular use

  • Effective for chronic and acute conditions

Yes, when used properly, it’s extremely safe. As a fully qualified practitioner, I will advise on any circumstances which may mean cold laser is not an appropriate form of treatment.

Is 3B Cold Laser Therapy safe?

How deep does the laser penetrate?

Different strengths of laser can reach tissue different depths – typically the laser can penetrate between 2-6cm.

Session lengths vary depending on the condition being treated  – generally treatment takes around 30 minutes.. Horses take longer simply because they are much bigger!

How long is a typical session?

This depends on the issue being treated. Sometimes, it’s a good idea to have the first few sessions close together, to get the maximum benefit, expeciallly if we’re treating a chronic injury or infected wound. Typically these condictuions will require more sessions, as the laser stimulates different parts of healing process. As things progress we can usually go to weekly or monthly treatments. A lot is also down to how an individual responds to treatment

How many sessions will be needed?

Hopefully soon! We don’t have a dedicated clinic space as yet but I’m hoping to be able to offer this in the near future. In the meantime I’m very happy to come to you, as long as you have somewhere quiet and comfy to sit, and I travel to yards for equine clients.

Can I come to you for treatment?

No. While both use light, cold laser therapy uses coherent laser light, which penetrates deeper, is more targeted and efficient than red light therapy.

Is it the same as red light therapy?

Does it hurt? Are there any side effects?

No it doesnt hurt, in fact most animals fall asleep during treatment. Side effects are also rare. You may notice your pet is tired afterwards or yawns a lot, generally people notice a reduction in pain, or less stiffnes in their pets almost straight away.

All animal treatment requires veterinary consent

Providing photos or videos of any injury or condition is always helpful.

I’m always happy to have an inital conversation, so do feel free to contact me to discuss things further.
